Whenever we talk about finding jobs, my dad tells me, "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life." For a while, I thought this meant that, in the future, when I find an academic subject I'm passionate about, I should turn it into my career. Until recently, I didn't realize that I could start putting this saying into practice as a teenager.
At this point, most of my friends have spent time working jobs they hated simply because they felt like there were no other job opportunities for teenagers. While there's nothing wrong with this, we always wished that we could make money doing the activities we actually enjoyed. You've probably thought about it too, and you might be surprised to find out that there are tons of ways to get paid to have fun. While I still haven't found my dream job of being paid to nap, here a few other great options that I found:
For the Athlete:
If you're interested in sports, there are tons of ways to make money. Offering private coaching to younger students, working as a referee for youth leagues, or becoming a yoga or spin instructor at a local gym could be great jobs for you.
For the Artist:
You are never too young to start selling your artwork. One great way to do this is by uploading your art to Redbubble, allowing people to buy your prints on various products. If your work can't be printed, selling handmade objects on Etsy is another great way to go!
For the Baker:
While I love baking, I always end up making more than I can eat alone! If you're like me, selling your baked goods to friends could be an excellent way to go. Creating an Instagram account to show off your delicious products is a great way to gain customers and help your business grow!
For the Gamer:
If you are getting paid to play video games, your parents can't tell you to get off your phone! One great way to do this is by becoming a video game tester. New games are always looking for feedback, so you can make a lot of money by simply playing games!
These are only a few ideas for you to start with, but the possibilities are truly endless. With a little creativity, you can find a job so fun that you will forget that you are even working!
