Stay the Course: Arkansas Virtual Academy Now Enrolling for the 2020-2021 School Year
LITTLE ROCK, Ark.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Students are invited to explore different career paths at Arkansas Virtual Academy (ARVA), which is now accepting enrollment applications for the 2020-2021 school year.
Through the school’s Destinations Career Academy, students can pair a solid academic foundation with hands-on learning experiences in growing career fields like information technology (IT), business, agriculture, cybersecurity, computer science, and more. Select paths also offer an industry-recognized certification that students can work toward. Some of these certifications include Microsoft, Adobe, OSHA, and ACT WorkKeys. Whether their path leads them directly into the workplace, to the military, or to higher education, career readiness provides students with the skills they need to get there.
“At ARVA, we help cultivate curiosity and encourage students to reach beyond their comfort zones,” said ARVA Head of School Amy Johnson. “Teachers and staff work tirelessly to spark the joy of learning—an experience we know will follow students well after high school.”
In addition to career readiness courses, ARVA students have access to a robust curriculum and attend live virtual classes taught by state-licensed teachers. Students are offered a full course load in the core subjects of math, science, English language arts, history, art and music, as well as a host of electives including world languages. Teachers regularly communicate with students and their families via email, phone and during one-on-one meetings.
“ARVA gives me the kind of work I never knew I needed,” said ARVA student Caylie Sipes. “It’s challenged me in a good way, and I appreciate the program for that. I honestly feel that I’m not only more prepared for handling a future job, but also better at communicating with others.”
An online and blended public charter school, ARVA is available tuition-free to students in kindergarten through 12th grade who reside anywhere in the state. Many families and students choose ARVA because it provides an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar education. Athletes, advanced learners, and students seeking a bullying-free environment can balance a full academic course load along with extracurricular pursuits or medical needs.
Outside of the classroom, ARVA offers online student clubs and in-person activities such as field trips, community service opportunities and social gatherings, including an annual graduation ceremony for seniors.
Students and families are encouraged to attend an online or in-person information session hosted by the school. More information on ARVA, how to enroll, and a schedule of upcoming events can be found at arva.k12.com.
