WHY CAREER READINESS EDUCATION?
Today's students can't wait until after high school to prepare for a career.
Our modern economy is quickly growing "middle jobs," which require training beyond a high school diploma but not a bachelor's degree.1 The growth of middle jobs has created a skills gap in the labor market. This presents a great opportunity for high school students to explore a career path now and gain the skills they'll need to pursue it after graduation.
In addition, the cost of college is higher than ever. Students who can begin earning a good wage upon receiving their high school diploma are in a better position to finance further educational opportunities, whether that be college or a trade school.
†Many Microsoft® Office certificates can be earned after completing one course. Other certificates require more classes to be better prepared, and students who attend Destinations for at least two years will have further exposure to career readiness education courses to be best prepared for certification testing.
